There is within most people a yearning for a one-on-one relationship with God. Many have tried formal prayer and techniques of all kinds and their prayer life remains dry. Others have tried none and are not sure where to head for such a relationship. This retreat will offer a systematic 20-minute practice of meditation whereby we become more aware of and responsive to Christ's pervasive and transforming presence. There will be an opportunity to develop a plan that is specifically suited to the needs and lifestyle of the retreatant.

"We want to help people keep their spirit high as they seek new opportunities,"
says Dr. Little." They need to know that God and we care about them."

Come away awhile, let us care for you! If you are a caregiver, often you are considered the pillar of strength in your particular situation. We understand the cost of that strength and the burdens of putting yourself at the service of another: the lack of personal time, and the lost energy for other roles.

The power to forgive can change one's life. But, what should be considered fulfilling becomes incomplete until we consider what is necessary for total reconciliation. Often times, forgiveness can be a one-way street that excludes the other individual or group that originally wounded us. In this retreat, we will explore the various components of forgiveness and reconciliation and how we can participate fully in each. Participants will have opportunities for prayerful meditation, discussion and hands on exercises. Please bring a journal with you. The video, The Power of Forgiveness will be viewed during the program.

Our earliest spiritual formation has served us well, helping us to navigate the spiritual tasks and journey of the first half of life. But "when life comes at us fast," as the phrase says, we are often ill prepared to handle life's challenges (e.g., the death of a loved one; the loss of a job; a divorce, a terminal illness), or resolve its questions (e.g., whose side is God on; why can't I forgive; why do bad things happen to good people); or carry out its tasks in a brand new way (to take up the journey of life with the same motivation Jesus did). This retreat will focus on what it means to cross over to the other side; that is, the transitional experience of being led by the Spirit out of darkness into the spirituality of the second half of life; and what the Spirit calls forth from us in navigating life's second half.

There is no gift in the Christian tradition more reflective of the presence and action of God in our world than the gift of compassion. During 2010 we have reflected on the gift of Compassion during eight days of prayer and reflection to learn how God tells us the story of compassion from various spiritual traditions. This program in our Compassion series allows us to reflect with our guide, Sr. Ilia Delio, on the gift of compassion in the Franciscan Tradition.
