Care for the Care Giver: Join us for a Time of Respite
Come away awhile, let us care for you! If you are a caregiver, often you are considered the pillar of strength in your particular situation. We understand the cost of that strength and the burdens of putting yourself at the service of another: the lack of personal time, and the lost energy for other roles.

Our natural surroundings can be a reminder for us to be fully present in each moment as we experience our own inner essence. This retreat focuses on the on Five Element Theory as a call to remember that essence. Together we'll look at each element in relation to the seasons, using discussion, music, poetry and movement to experience a deep level of gratitude and tap inner wisdom. Dress comfortably as we'll spend some time outdoors. We'll work and play in silence, in partnership and in groups as we explore nature as our teacher for coming to life fully for all of our life events, situations and relationships. By the end of the day, participants will design personal reminders and practices as a way to relax and heal. This retreat is appropriate for newcomers and for those familiar with this theory. Materials provided although participants may want to bring a journal.
6 CEUs for massage therapists are available from the NCBTMBs.

“Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another as God, in Christ, has forgiven you."( Ephesians 4:32)
Forgiveness is a life long process in which we learn to forbear, forgo, forgive and forget. Relying on a variety of stories ~ Biblical, fictional and contemporary ~ participants will learn the process by which we strive to forgive others as we have been forgiven. Reflection materials will be provided. Join the Friends group for a day of prayer, Mass, lunch and friendship.
Mark your calendar to join us the first Wednesday of each month for an inspirational day of prayer and reflection. We begin at 9:30 am with coffee and pastries, a morning presentation at 10:00 am.; Mass in the chapel; a delicious lunch and an afternoon presentation at 1:30 pm. There is also an hour of free time after lunch to walk the beautiful grounds, pray the labyrinth, or just to relax outdoors at the pond. Our day concludes at 3:00 pm.

Distinctions between secular and sacred often relegate the presence of God to so-called holy places. We can deepen our awareness of God in such a way that he can be experienced in whatever we find ourselves doing: from work at the office to conflict at home, from driving to work to doing chores around the house, from a friends sickbed to working on the Internet. From that presence we can live with a new sense of gratitude, which can create in us an inner peace and way of relating to others not known before. This weekend retreat will provide the skills and practices needed to gain this heightened awareness of God and to live out of it.

T'ai Chi Chih is a series of 20 separate, easy-to-learn moves that circulate and balance the chi, the life force that flows within us. It is not a martial art, rather a moving meditation that reduces stress, and generates vital health and peace of mind. In this fun and entertaining workshop you will be taught a few of the T'ai Chi Chih moves, which you can actually take away and practice on your own. You will also be taught how to ground the chi, which helps with focus, clarity, and feeling more present in everyday life. All sizes, strengths, and ages welcome. The moves may be done seated.

Practically speaking, what is God calling you to in life? What is religious life? Maybe God is calling you to explore consecrated life as a sister. How do you know if you have a vocation to be a vowed sister? Where do you begin? Explore these and more questions about religious life with the Sisters of Bon Secours during a weekend of discussion, reflection, prayer and liturgy, group sharing, and leisure. The weekend is for Catholic single women ages 19 to 47. Take an optional tour of various Bon Secours ministries in Baltimore on Friday, October 22 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. If you cannot begin Friday evening, come to the first session Saturday morning at 9:00 am. We welcome you to come and see!

There is no gift in the Christian tradition more reflective of the presence and action of God in our world than the gift of compassion. During 2010 we will reflect on the gift of Compassion during eight days of prayer and reflection on how God tells us the story of compassion from various spiritual traditions. During this final installment of our series, our guide, Sr. Eileen Quinn, will lead us in prayer and reflection on the gift of compassion in the Celtic Tradition.

Your adventure is underway. After spring's cacophony of birds and blossoms, after summer's profusion of butterflies and berries, autumn is here to teach you the art of slow and gentle yielding: green leaves surrendering to topaz, saffron, scarlet; day relinquishing its grip on night. Are you ready to immerse yourself in the mystery of divine presence as it reveals itself in this sacred season? Come along, then! Bring a journal, if you have one, wear comfortable clothes. Join the nature writer and Benedictine Oblate Elizabeth Ayres for an inspiring, day-long journey of reading, discussion and quiet contemplation amidst 300 wooded acres. You'll return home after this exhilarating trip having discovered for yourself what G. K. Chesterton meant when he said, "The world will never starve for want of wonders, only for want of wonder".
