Advent Day of Prayer

At this time in our lives many of us are facing challenges in lifestyle, ministry, health, relationships, and other aspects of living. Now may be the time to look at your concerns and opportunities in a prayerful setting. Advent is a good time to reflect on Mary's story and see if it sheds light on you own. Mary "was deeply troubled...and wondered what the angel's greeting meant". Are you sometimes troubled and wonder what meaning your life, your future holds for you? This day of prayer will include input, Scripture, quiet time, and sharing. Please bring your journal for reflective writing.

Care for the Caregiver

Care for the Care Giver:
Join us for a Time of Respite

Come away awhile, let us care for you! If you are a caregiver, often you are considered the pillar of strength in your particular situation. We understand the cost of that strength and the burdens of putting yourself at the service of another: the lack of personal time, and the lost energy for other roles.

Coping with Grief and Stress before the Holiday

For some of us stress and grief are unwelcome holiday companions. These days can be sad and lonely times, especially for families and friends who are grieving a serious loss or change in personal circumstances. These feelings are often unwelcome and many times take a toll that squanders holiday energy and joy. But they are not an inevitable outcome, if we are aware and prepared.

If this holiday is likely to include regrets, fears or memories of loss that might interfere with your well-being, please join us to understand how these things happen and what you can do to continue to heal and celebrate the holidays in a healthy, intact way, physically, mentally and spiritually. This respite retreat offers a safe environment to discuss concerns and provides ideas and strategies to manage grief and stress during a difficult time.

Retreat attendees will learn how to balance solitude and social interaction, manage memories, find creative outlets for energy, honor while changing some traditions, acknowledge difficulties and joy, and identify resources to help through the holidays.

A Franciscan Christmas...
... We All Have One

Francis of Assisi is one of the best loved saints of all time. Few people are aware that Francis began the custom of setting up a nativity scene at Christmas time, and the first to present a "living nativity" during Christmas Eve mass. During this retreat, we will discuss the life and little known facts about Francis, his initiation of the Christmas customs, and the experience and miracle of the first "Greccio", the living nativity. We will also share some of our own family Christmas customs and perhaps find new ones to adopt. All of us will be blessed with the Christmas spirit by the end of the day.

This is the Way...
... Walk In It: A New Year's Retreat

The closing of 2010 and the beginning of 2011 provides as opportunity to step back and look at the "Way" we are on. New Year's Eve is like a rest stop on a highway: we can get out, look at he map, take a break, and determine the what-how-where of our travel. Do you need to...relax? Reorient? Reboot? Repack? Re-cognize? Recollect? Our way is grace and this retreat offers an opportunity to sink into the "Way" of our tender and loving God is on with each of us, that we may better walk in it in the New Year ahead. Come and enjoy time for reflection, for conversation, for sharing, for input, for silence - and listen deeply to God's invitation.
